“Michael Katz launched into his first tale, silence reigned.
Katz is a versatile performer and wonderful storyteller”

– Los Angeles Times

Maybe you want to become a professional storyteller? Maybe you want to be able to captivate your children and their friends or even fellow adults? Maybe you want to work on a new piece? Maybe you’re a teacher who would like to strengthen your experience, knowledge and expertise at storytelling? Maybe you want to explore this amazing expressive art form? In this storytelling workshop, we hope to work with a mixed level of storytellers, from the experienced to the novice. It’s been my experience that all levels have something to offer each other: inspiring, reminding, reflecting, and resonating. I will cover some of the basics of storytelling and then the participants will work on their own storytelling piece – be it folktale or personal narrative. The majority of the class will be observation, performance, and critique. On the last two nights, there will be performances for an invited audience with classroom critique afterwords.

"Michael is a gifted storyteller and teacher. It didn’t matter whether people were working on stories for kids, the stage, or their next dinner party. Everyone’s work blossomed as a result of Michael’s warm and expert guidance. Michael is constantly creating learning opportunities for his students." — Chris Wolfe, Adult Storytelling Student and Actor

“The class was just terrific. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to add greater depth to their storytelling. The critiques were right on target. I really appreciated the supportive and honest feedback both you and the class gave to me.” — KW Adult Storytelling Student

"This class taught me a lot about myself - how I communicate and how I could communicate better.” — Bob Cheatham, Adult Storytelling Student

“What a joyful performer! He charismatically invited everyone in. As a teacher ... insightful, supportive and extremely encouraging!” — Miriam Mills, Asian Art Museum, Storyteller

“Michael you have the most gentle way of delivering feedback that otherwise would be difficult to hear and use. Your gift amazes me.” — Sarah Lord, Adult Storytelling Student

Fee for all 6 Classes - $180
